Casting notice: Passion for the Planet

Damn Cheek Productions CIC is casting for a locally based actor or actress for its latest production – an exciting installation and promenade theatre piece Passion for the Planet by Tony Earnshaw and directed by Darren Cheek.

About the production

A site-specific COVID-secure theatre production in and around the grounds of Christ Church, Felling NE10 0HQ:

  • Equity ITC Contract
  • 3 July 2021 3 August 2021
  • 2.5 weeks rehearsal
  • 1.5 weeks show run

This Arts Council-funded COVID-secure production runs from 23 July to 3 August 2021, with rehearsals from 6 July 2021.

Stage 1 via Zoom in late April, with recall in person (tbc) in May.

This is a multifaceted ensemble storytelling piece, with multiple roles, so a versatile, flexible and creative actor or actress is sought – and one able to use their body and voice creatively. Ideally, applicants will be skilled in at least one instrument, but we will consider singers also.

Actors with experience of mask, puppetry and/or physical theatre particularly welcomed, as are those with devising, small-scale touring, and/or immersive theatre experience.

A 3-hander, it is essential that the actor or actress is a team player and one with a good sense of humour.

Damn Cheek CIC recognises the positive value of diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, and particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME), d/Deaf and disabled candidates – as BAME, d/Deaf and disabled people are currently under-represented throughout our industry.

We also believe in the ethics and importance of localised casting – so please only apply if you have a location base commutable to NE10 0HQ.

This is an Equity / ITC contract, and as such is paid as per recommended 2021 contracted rates.
